CAMP 07

I am so looking forward to camp. I’ve been going over checking my bag over and over again to make sure I didn’t forget anything. I am waving to school now, as I walk onto the bus. The bus ride wasn’t really boring because I tried to do things to amuse myself. When Mr.C said there is about 62 km left, then I wanted to teleport there. When we got there I was relieved. My friends were in cabin 8. We got into groups shortly after we unpacked our bags. Our group was called the creeps, then Mr.C read what each group was doing first, we had canoeing. I was looking forward to canoeing more than anything. I was so excited when I saw all the canoes in the shed. Amanda, Desmond and I went to lift one up but we didn’t predict it was going to be that heavy. I was partners with Desmond for canoeing. I went at the back of the canoe because Mr.C said grade 6’s were to go at the back because they have more experience. I was hardly in place when Mr.C suddenly pushed the canoe into the water. I was not expecting it, so my heart beat hard for a second. I did canoeing last year so I didn’t have a problem. When Mr.C said there was a wallaby drinking by the lake. Desmond and I paddled very fast towards it as we couldn’t see it from where we were. I was so amazed because when we got there it didn’t go away. When we finished we went back to the recreation room and went on to our next activity which was bike riding. Bike riding was fun especially the end when we went up and down a hill. For dinner we had fish and vegetables, it was nice and the fish melted in my mouth. At night it was so fun because we talked, played, let off fart bombs and went into other people’s cabins. Nathan, Michael and I stayed up the whole night. The first activity the next day was orienteering. Orienteering was probably the worst activity. Then we took photos, that was good because it was a great chance to get good photos. Mapping wasn’t the best of activities. Next we had ropes coarse which was also good. The very last activity was archery. Archery was so good that it was probably the best, I got in the yellow circle. Next we got dress ready for the concert. The concert was good there were some funny acts. The disco was O.K but I started to fall asleep, I shouldn’t of stayed up all night. At night I couldn’t stay up so I just went to sleep. In the morning I packed up all my stuff. We went on a walk then we stoped to do hut building. Our hut was bad. The bus home wasn’t to bad. When we got back, I had to wait for ages for my mum. It was a very fun camp.

Camp Cavehill
When we first entered Camp Cavehill I felt a rush of excitement run through me. We were finally there; after that long boring bus ride. I couldn’t wait to get outside into the cool fresh air. When I first saw the lake I was amazed too see how beautiful it was. Then when I entered my cabin I felt so lucky to have the ensuite, till we found the dead frog. It was gross! Then we did compass work. I didn’t enjoy it much but it was fun to do it with a friend. I really enjoyed the breaks because we could sit with our friends or play table tennis. I really enjoyed the rope course because it was fun to watch Samantha do something over and over again, until she finally got it. I also liked it when we had to work as a team. When I had dinner that night I was surprised because the food didn’t taste as bad as I thought it would, but it didn’t taste as good as home. When we did archery the next day I was annoyed because I kept missing the target but I got better. Then we did bike riding with Miss Jackson, that was fun but I hated my bike because it felt like it was going to fall apart. When we did canoeing at fist I was scared about falling in but we got the hang of it the only bad part after that was when we couldn’t stop the canoe and went straight into the reeds, because we freaked out! I enjoyed taking photos because it gave me time to enjoy the scenery and have a look around the places I haven’t been to yet. Then we did our final activity the map reading, I enjoyed that because I saw an echidna but I didn’t enjoy getting my foot stuck in mud. That night I had a lot of fun doing the camp act, and couldn’t stop laughing. The next day I had a lot of fun working as a team and making huts. When it was time to leave I was a bit sad but I knew that we had to go home soon. I had a lot of fun and I really enjoyed going to Camp Cavehill and would go back again.

Now the moment of truth I am going to pick up the bow. I am nervous but excited at the same time and I am a hoping to get a bullseye. As I pick up the arrow and put it on the bowstring I pull it back the Mrs Jackson told us. POW! WOW wait… that wasn’t me mine it didn’t work! I‘ll try again, I pull the bow back… I let go YES it was mine I’m proud that it worked but it only went half way. Dam oh well. Next time I will get it hopefully. I am in the line and I am trying to think of a way to hold the arrow and let go so I get a bullseye but everybody is going crazy because they got their arrow to hit the bottom of the hay. It’s my shot and I’m now about to get a bullseye. WWHHOSSHH I let go and it’s flying. YES I am proud I hit the bottom of the hay. Next time I will get a bullseye.
WELL HOPEFULLY!

Cavehill Creek 2007 camp was an experience of a lifetime and i will never forget it!! the activities were unforgetable, the disco was fun and the nights were AWESOME!
One of my favourite activities was the low ropes activity. It got me excited and my blood rushing rapidly. One of my other favorite acitvities was the canoeing when we raced. It was realy fun and I'd want to do it again. when I did the buke riding I had a giant Rush of energy from how rapid and fans i was going. the orrienteering was fun when we got lost but still made it to the end just after everyone else. I liked the compass work because it got me to think hard and i learned how to properly use a compass.the talent show was really funy and amusing to see my friends and fellow classmates dance, sing and party around for our pursonal amusement. I really enjoyed the nightwalk. It was funny to hear the girls scream their heads off when we told them about DROP BEARS.
IT WAS THE BEST CAMP EXPERIENCE EVER!

I was in the canoe my excitement was over coming me. I stared at the dark water thinking something was going to lash out at me. I slowly started to paddle. My heart was beating a mile a minute but i didn’t seem to take any notice of it. Still paddling, Amanda and i were already half way. My thoughts were going bizzerk and my heart started to relax. I slowly stopped paddling and was staring at the scenery. Someone was shouting out that there was a wallaby. I quickly started paddling to the wallaby. I was so excited i couldn’t think straight. Then we suddenly came to a stop. My heart thumping on my chest, my thoughts blank and my eyes wide open. I stared at the wallaby, scared to move or speak. Everyone just sat in the canoes staring at it. Then it moved (ran away). I couldn’t believe what i saw. My heart was jumping with excitement and i started to slowly go back in the open water. I had relaxed but i had lots of thoughts in my mind. I quickly paddled back to the canoe shed. My thoughts were jumping rapidly up and down in my head. I slowly thought to myself “What could be next”.

When we walked out to the canoes I felt nervous and excited for my first time in a canoe. When I took my first step into the canoe I felt unstable and way out of my comfort zone, like I was walking along a bridge that took big sways each time you stepped.
When Hannah hopped in I felt safer, because I wasn’t sitting there by myself. As Mr. C pushed us off the land I felt the boat tilt just a little bit. All of a sudden my I could feel my body fill with excitement and there was still a tremble of terror.
As we floated down the lake Hannah instructed me, and soon I felt normal about canoeing. I wasn’t nervous anymore and I felt more and more excited each time I paddled.
When we started heading down the river Hannah and I had to work hard to keep out of the reads, because I was terrified of leaches. As we started heading back to the canoe shed I felt very tired, but I was proud of myself that I had done something that was way out of my comfort zone.

Camp CaveHill Reflection

As I think back to camp I think of it as an fantastic experience. When thinking of camp I have many different emotions. I think camp as an experience to build relationship between people and build trust between one and another. Building trust was really important because most of the activities were team activities that need a lot of trust and cooperation to be accomplished and succeeded. Camp helped us to develop skills through the actives we learnt such as orienteering, canoeing, mountain bike riding, rope climbing and hut building. One of the best things about camp was living with my friends, eating together and sharing a room together. Bur my most favourite memory from camp is taking part in a camp act because the acts were so lame that it was really funny. Overall camp was a great experience and I loved it!!!

Camp Cave Hill Creek!

If I had to sum up camp into one word, I couldn’t it was so great it’s impossible to explain it.
On the way there was the most exciting part. On the way back was the most disappointing part. And actually being at camp was the best part. My challenge was getting out and getting dirty and not worrying about my clothes and hair!!

The activity I enjoyed the most was the ropes but then comes canoeing.
Ropes were great and enjoyable because it was easy for me but canoeing was great because it was a challenge and something to strive for.
I was so happy with my cabin, it was so awesome we had heaps of fun!

For me I think camp is about moving out of your comfort zone and working as a team to achieve your goal. Camp really made me appreciate everything you have back at home, I felt so grateful.
Surprisingly I managed without all my electronics.
Camp was defiantly one of the best highlights of the year.

Camp Cave Hill Creek

Camp Cave Hill Creek was one of the best experiences of my life. I loved everything. From the food to the activities. It was also great to be away from my family but at the same time I missed them HEAPS!

As soon as I got to camp I knew that I would have the time of my life. When I got given my cabin my friends and I all jumped and ran in chucking our bags and jackets everywhere. As soon as the teachers went away we were jumping up and down, screaming and having a ball.

The activities were great! My three favourites were the ropes course, the bike riding and the canoeing. These activities involved trust, teamwork, patience, courage, and believing in yourself. Another good thing about the activities was that no one ended up in the drink. Mr. C says that’s the first time no one fell in the lake.

Camp also taught us skills that we might have to use in life. Like compass work and map reading. Though all of the activities taught us something in a different way. Like the canoeing and the ropes course taught us teamwork. The bike riding made us use determination. So many things use values.

I love camp. I never really wanted to come back. Camp taught me so many things. From the time I embarked on this journey to the time it ended. I can’t wait to go next year but as a year seven.

When we went to camp i was not expecting much but when we got there I was feeling a feeling i have never felt. It was an unforgettable experience and it will be one of my greatest moments of my primary school life. My favourite part of camp was the acts and the disco they were really fun and when Daniel and i was getting ready to MC the concert.

On Wednesday the 10th of October grade 5/6jp and 5/6cp went on camp to Cave Hill Creek for three days.

The first activity for our group and me was Archery I felt a bit nervous because I had never atte
mpted archery before. The closet I got to a bulls-eye was right on the yellow line and I felt so good because I achieved something.

Next up was Canoeing I felt this tingle going down my spine, I was pared up with Ben Camallari. When we were in the water we decided to race with Simeon and Julian and Chiara and Elana we gave the girls a head start it came down to a very close race but Ben and I won.

After that Mountain Bike Riding was next. After I saw the bikes I said to myself this is going to be fun and I was so exited. Simeon and myself got lost but we weren’t worried but then we found Mrs Mc Hugh and that was a bit of a relief.

Last but not least we did ropes it’s a course. You have to walk on ropes with small bits of rope to give you support to balance yourself. Once I finished the course I was tempted to do it again even though I nearly broke my back. I ended up doing it seven times it was so fun and I still want to do it again.

But the best bit of camp was going to bed because we stayed up all night making lots of noises and keeping the teachers up to all hours of the morning and eating lots and lots of lollies. The one thing the teachers didn’t know but do now was that we sunk into the grade 5 boys cabin and the grade 6 girls cabin.

It was one of the best times of my primary school life . I cant wait till next years camp.

At school on Tuesday, the day before camp I was really happy that I was with my friends. The first activity that we did was the low ropes obstacle course, witch was really easy.

The next activity was archery it was really hard at first but then it got easier after a while. I was one of the people who got a bullseye.

When it was our turn to do mountain bike riding we were the one’s that got the new bikes, during the ride our group was scared that we had lost Mrs. Jackson because we couldn’t see her anywhere.

In canoeing I was with Michael c, when we tried to race Adam and Adrian we lost, twice. When we stopped and changed places we went much faster.

When we did mapping finding the posts was easy but unscrambling the letters was hard.

I got heaps of photos of my friends and me plus lots of photos of the camp.

I liked the food especially the pancakes.

On the night walk we came across a dead kangaroo.

During the meal time I was annoyed that we couldn’t sit with our friends but then I got used to it.

Camp was an experience that will be remembered for the rest of my life. The nights were late and exhausting, the days were fun and enjoyable, the camp was awesome. I really enjoyed camp and I didn’t want to leave but at the same time I missed home. The activities were really fun. I really liked the canoes because I was on the front of the canoe, I was with my friend and it was exciting. The ropes course I was looking forward to until my spotter Mrs. Camilleri didn’t catch me when I fell off. Everyday when I woke up I felt tired but so excited for the day the blood was pumping through me. The night walks were so fun but pretty tiring and exhausting at the same time. I was abit worried on the night walk because I thought I would trip 0r something. The wildlife I saw was awesome Echidnas, Kangaroos, Wallaby, Birds, and Bugs and more. The one animal that I enjoyed seeing the most was the Echidna because they’re rare to see and I love how they waddle, they’re so cute. The scenery was breathtaking, looking out from the recroom and onto the lake. Every where you went on cave hill creek was the view was amazing. You could see up in the mountains and the big trees. The weather was great and I pleased that we were able to get all the activities done. I was very happy with my cabin all my friends were in it and my activity group was good aswell. The food we had was delicious and I enjoyed eating it especially the ‘’Fish Fillet’’ (Fish-Fill-Ey). The bus ride was on the way back was long and lifeless but I tried to make it fun. everyone was sleepy and exhausted … I wasn’t because I was rushed with energy. I will never forget my time at cave hill. The memories will be treasured for ever … and ever!

CAVE HILL CREEK

On wednesday 10th of October the grade 5/6's went t
camp. I loved how we went canoeing and it was challenging and fun.I loved all the activities.
It was great how we lived with almost NO T.V. or other electronics.About a day before camp we had to write a short peice of writing about our expectations of camp, and it met most of mine but it did'nt look ANYTHING like I thought.I loved mountain bike riding it was really BUMPY! Archery was good as well, but i did'nt get a bulls-eye.The food there was alright, it was nice. We saw lots of wildlife there, like Kangaroos & wallobies. I had a great time watching HOLES on the camp's television. Staying with all my mates at night was FANTASTIC, just talking and stuff. As you can see, I've messed around with a photo to make it look like Bart Simpson is in a canoe. The obsticle course was challenging, because you had to climb up ropes and balence and do all types of things with ropes. Photo shooting was GOOD because I got to take all kinds of shots. But my favourite activity was hut building. Anyway, I'd just like to say... I LOVE CAMP!! -michael Talia

CAVE HILL CREEK
I am so fortunate to attend my first camp this year at Cave Hill Creek ,and l know have many wonderful memories
and experiences.

One of my biggerst challengers was the night before having butterflies in my stomach and knowing
that l was going to miss my family.
all the comfy things at home.

What l really liked about Cave hill Creek was non stop action and non stop activities. l really liked being
with all my friends under the one roof. I liked doing free-time because we all played a soccer match.
We all got along really well.

I didn't like the most was lights out at 10:00 but we stayed up. I didn't really like the cooking because l was so used to my mum making good food.

I am very glad l took pictures of camp so l will have them forever. I love taking to my friends about camp so camp Rum-bug hear l come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
